The Sustainable Princeton Community Plan is the result of a community-wide effort to develop a long-term vision, an action plan, and a way to track progress towards achieving sustainable communities in Princeton Township and Princeton Borough. Working with the Princeton community's local and school officials, businesses, community organizations, academic institutions, and residents, Sustainable Princeton has created a sustainable community plan that includes goals, indicators (ways to measure progress), and actions for four sectors of the community:
Municipal Government
Schools
Businesses & Non-profit Organizations
Residents
The plan is an initiative of the Princeton Environmental Commission (PEC) to develop a strategic sustainability plan for both Princeton Borough and Princeton Township. On behalf of the municipalities, the commission submitted a proposal to and received a grant from the New Jersey Municipal Land Use Center (MLUC) at The College of New Jersey. The grant enabled the municipalities to develop the plan with the expertise of the staff at the New Jersey Sustainable State Institute (NJSSI) at the Bloustein School for Planning and Public Policy located at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
