As residents of Princeton, we share the responsibility of moving our town toward sustainability. Each of you can make a difference, whether you are starting a compost pile, shopping at local businesses, or volunteering with Sustainable Princeton. Any steps you can take will help our town, our state, our country, and our world. Sustainable Princeton is here to help you find and take those steps.

How Much Is Your Energy Bill?

You could be one of millions overpaying for energy, but by weatherizing your home you can save up to 25 percent or more on your energy bills! Get an energy audit from a Building Performance Institute (BPI) certified contractor and find out how much you can save. Most of the work simply involves sealing up cracks and insulating, you'll be warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

Look for Sustainable Princeton's upcoming report on our pilot energy audit process and results.

ALL RESIDENTS PLEASE NOTE: New Jersey Clean Energy Program provides incentives to help you make these improvements to your home however, due to budget cuts the program is being scaled back as of APRIL 26 2010. Here are the changes to the program. Also note that due to the high volume of applications some programs have suspended accepting new applications.

Shop Local!

By shopping at local stores and businesses you help maintain a vibrant local economy. when you shop local, you invest in your community, in you neighbors, and in yourselves. It is estimated that for every dollar you spend, twice as much will be reinvested in the community by a local store than a national chain. When buying local you also help reduce environmental impacts as local business have smaller carbon footprints than national stores.
