RSVP to attend Sustainable Princeton’s S.T.A.R. Neighborhood Program’s first Garden Tools & Plant Swap on Saturday, May 18 from 1:00-3:00pm at the backyard patio at 1 Monument Drive, Princeton, NJ 08540. In the event of inclement weather, the event will move indoors.
In addition to the swapping, there will be native plant raffle door prizes and plant propagation demonstrations throughout the event!
What can be swapped:
- Garden Tools and Supplies – shovels, pruners, garden stakes, pots and planters, hoses and watering cans, etc. *Please note the items must be in good working condition and be cleaned thoroughly with soap to reduce any bacteria contamination*
- Gloves (only if new)
- Native Plants – Learn more in our Explainer about Native Plants. For more resources, visit the Native Plant Society of New Jersey’s website
- Seed packets, leftover Seeds
- Propagated Plants (plant cuttings)
- Plastic nursery pots (great for starting plants!) Make sure to empty of soil and rinse with dish soap!
- Electric lawn equipment
What is not permitted at the Swap:
*If any of the following items are brought to the Swap, we will ask you to bring them home*
- Dead or dying plants
- Invasive Plants. Use this Invasive Plant list and/or a smartphone to identify native plants.
- No Soil – please be sure to dump the soil out of pots
- No gas lawn equipment
Any items left “unswapped” will be donated to partners in the community with gardens or Sustainable Princeton’s free Lending Library.
