Join Sustainable Princeton and Morven Museum & Garden for a day of sustainable, Earth-friendly fun!

Free and open to the public.

Schedule:

11:00 am – 12:00 pm Yoga (please register in advance)
11:30 am; 12:30 pm; and 1:30 pm Garden tour with Morven horticulturists. Each tour lasts about 30 – 40 min. No advanced registration required.
12:00 pm – 12:30 pm Trashion show
12:30 pm – 1:00 pm Around 8 – Acapella performance
1:00 pm – 3:00 pm DJ Myricks

Events requiring advance registration:

Yoga with Gemma from Gratitude Yoga – FREE All-Levels Yoga class at 11:00 am. Class will be offered outdoors with an option to move under a tent or indoors to the Educational Center in the event of rain. No yoga experience necessary. All are welcome. Advance registration required.

*NEW for 2025!* Trashion Show – Trashion is original fashion designs made from items that would otherwise have been discarded or recycled. Participants will walk in a Trashion Show at 12:00 pm and designs will be judged and prizes will be awarded for each age category, as well as a “People’s Choice” award. Prizes include: Princeton Arts Council family membership, $50 Gift card to Nosh and an Alfalfa gift card! To participate, please register in advance by April 18.

What to Bring:

  • Clothing Donations – Help keep clothes out of the trash! Bring your used clothing for re-wear, reuse, and recycling. Helpsy will have bins available for you to drop off your used clothing. Learn what Helpsy accepts and visit their table to learn more about their organization! You can also bring your damaged clothing and learn basic sewing skills from Mend!
  • Books – For the all-ages book swap.
  • Reusable water bottle and mug – Get a bonus green raffle ticket! There will be free water filling stations available.
  • Blanket – Have a picnic lunch and enjoy the music!

Held in partnership with Morven Museum & Garden, Princeton Public Schools, and the Center for Modern Aging.

Food

Come hungry! We’ll have vegan and vegetarian options from the following local businesses. And don’t forget to Bring Your Own reusable water bottle and mug! We will be using Re:Dish reusable dishware and Un-Waste composting to make this a zero waste event.

Alfalfa – Greek and the Far East Salads, Ginger Turmeric Lemonade, 2 types of doughnuts.

the bent spoon – Ice cream and sorbet. Proceeds benefit SP and Morven!

Carlito’s Wagon – Vegetarian tacos and nachos.

Iquisine – IQ Portobello Bahn Mi, Vegetarian Spicy Pulled Pork sandwich, Spring Farro Salad.

Nosh – Veggie Empanadas and French Apple Pie Empanadas.

Small World – Iced Matcha, Cold Brew, Fresh Squeezed Lemonade, Coffee, plus a variety of cookies and granola.

Ongoing Activities:

  • Center for Modern Aging – “Found Object” Art Gallery
  • Composting Chickens – Learn the ABC’s of home composting chickens and meet a friendly flock! From 11am-1pm only.
  • Friends of Princeton Open Space – Make pinecone bird feeders with sunflower butter.
  • Helpsy Clothing Drive – Help keep clothes out of the trash! Bring your used clothing for re-wear, reuse, and recycling. Helpsy will have bins available for you to drop off your used clothing. Learn what Helpsy accepts and visit their table to learn more about their organization!
  • Morven Museum and Garden – Take a Garden Tour with one of Morven’s horticulturists. Tours are at 11:30 am; 12:30 pm; and 1:30 pm. Each tour lasts about 30 – 40 min. No advanced registration required.
  • Photo Booth – Strike a pose and receive a printed photo keepsake for a small donation to Sustainable Princeton and Morven Museum & Garden.
  • Arts Council of Princeton – Stop by the Arts Council’s table to make your mark on a collaborative art installation with teaching artist Liz Massa! Using cardboard, recycled materials, and your favorite art-making tools, we’ll build a whimsical city of houses, people, roads, trees — anything you can imagine! Together, we’ll dream up a world where color, creativity, and outside-the-box thinking thrive.
  • Princeton Environmental Commission – Learn about composting with PEC!
  • Princeton Public Library – Enjoy decorating butterflies and making Nature Art Frames. 
  • Princeton Public Schools -Various family-friendly activities including an all-ages book swap!
  • Princeton Record Exchange – Learn about the process of “recycling” people’s music and movies. Will be giving away free 45’s (the small 7” singles) to celebrate PREX’s 45th anniversary!
  • Princeton University’s Mend – “How to upcycle a T-Shirt,” and light clothing repairs. Bring your damaged clothing and learn basic sewing skills!
  • Princeton University’s Office of Sustainability – Student EcoReps will be giving out seed paper cutouts.
  • Road Maestro – Receive free bike safety inspections and diagnostics, and get fresh air in your bike tires!
  • Sprouts Flower Truck – Purchase beautiful locally grown flower bouquets from Sprouts and say hi to Clementine, the converted VW flower truck!
  • Watershed Institute – Make bee hotels out of bamboo.

All attendees have the chance to win amazing prizes donated by local organizations. Visit the Sustainable Princeton / Morven Museum welcome table to receive your event passport with details on how to win! Earn an additional raffle ticket for BYO reusable water bottle or mug, and walking or biking to the event.

Walking and biking is encouraged, ample bicycle parking will be on site at Morven as well as in 1 Monument Drive. If you show proof of biking to the event, you will receive an extra raffle ticket!

There will also be attendee parking available at the Municipal Building at 1 Monument Drive, Princeton, NJ 08540. Additional overflow parking will be available in the Seminary lot across the street.
