Racial justice, environmental justice, and sustainability are inseparable. As we reflect on the events over the last week, Sustainable Princeton stands in solidarity with the Black community and all who support equity, justice, and inclusion.
As an organization dedicated to creating a more sustainable community, we recognize the need to better support equality. Climate change disproportionally impacts people of color. While many of our programs focus on the needs of our most vulnerable, these events make us appreciate that we need to do more. We are committed to seeking out and amplifying the voices of those that have been marginalized in our community.
These are not hollow words that will fade into the background when it becomes hard to live up to them. We pledge to listen, learn, and improve so that all community members benefit from a more sustainable Princeton.
